One of the Girl Child, Monika Kujur 16 years old female was suffering from complex cyanotic
cogenitel heart disease and she was planned for open heart surgery. During the course of
investigation it was discovered that she has “Bombay Blood Group” which is one if the rarest
of rare Blood Group in the entire human species. A thorough search for a suitable blood
donors
was made in the entire north India but none could be identified. The only possible method to arrange
blood for her cardiac surgery is through autologous blood donation. The plan would involve multiple
admissions (approx 3 admissions for 1-2 days). at an interval of 7-10 days depending on her
clinical conditions. Her own blood would then be saved in the Blood Bank and would be
subsequently used during the surgery.
The total cost of surgery is Rs.4 Lacs. MSFS donated Rs. 3 lacs and Rs. 50,000 was donated by
Assunta Tribal Welfare Society and rest donated by individual member of ATWS.
